The third week of Suva Cricket A-grade competition and second for the premier league teams was played last Saturday in grounds across Suva. There was a lot at stake in the premier league as competition leaders the Punjabi Tigers took on close second placed Yadrana, in the 11am spot.
After a tough fought game, and with rain threatening constantly, Yadrana took out the game and moved into the leading position.
To add insult to injury, Komo recorded a big win over VICC, pushing them above Punjabi and into second place. In the premier league, Punjabi now sit third on 34 points with Moce 2 (26.5), Army (22), BSP Titans (19) and Covenant Brothers on 16 with VICC trailing the pack early on 11.5 points.
In the A-grade competition, teams are fighting for the top two spots and a chance to be promoted into premier league at the end of the season. Give me the mountain currently sit atop the ladder on 62 points with Ono I Lau following closely on 60.5.
Nasaqalau have moved into third position on 47, followed by Oneata (42.5), Police (38), Moce 1 (37), BSP Warriors (35.5), Sarafui (28), SGOS (26) with Heilala sitting at the bottom. It’s a close competition at this stage with most A-Grade teams only one good win away from threatening the prized top two positions.
