WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION AT CWM HOSPITAL

The Minister of Health Hon. Jone Usamate would like to assure the general public that whilst the CWM Hospital faces challenges because of the problems of water supply that plans are already operational to manage the disruption.

The CWM Hospital Management from yesterday Tuesday 9/12/14 has set up its Operation Center within the vicinity of the Hospital which is part and parcel of their normal Standing Operating Procedure when major disruptions of services occurs such as that currently being experienced with the intermittent water supply to the hospital.

CWM Hospital Team has been teaming up with the Water Authority of Fiji in ensuring minimum disruptions to all the wards and support services in the hospital such as the Laundry, Kitchen and supply of Steam from the Boiler Room.

Meanwhile, the following services are closed or partially closed temporarily with effect from  Wednesday 10/12/2014:

Dental Department;

Eye Department;

Oncology Services;

Gynecology Services; and

Ante Natal Clinic

The Minister reassures that even with the temporary closure or partial closure of certain services, the crucial areas of the key hospital services will remain open such as the Emergency Department, Labour Ward, Operating Theatres, and patients’ care to all the wards including the Children Hospital. The lives of our patients are still important and of paramount despite the temporary challenges CWM Hospital is currently facing he added.

The general public is advised to either visit Valelevu, Makoi, Nausori or Wainibokasi Health Centers as Raiwaqa, Samabula and Lami Health Centers may also be affected with the water disruptions.
