Fiji’s upcoming trade and investment seminar in Papua New Guinea next week received a boost of $10,000 today by the Australia and New Zealand Banking Limited or ANZ Bank.
Fiji’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr Shaheen Ali received the cheque from ANZ Fiji’s Head of Corporate Banking Mr Rakesh Ram and thanked the bank for its confidence in this investment meet.
“This is first of its kind mission because we have never led an outbound private sector mission as big as this one in PNG so we welcome this sponsorship”, Mr Ali said.
Mr Ram said they were looking forward to a bigger connectivity between Fiji and PNG in terms of investment and trade.
“As the largest bank in the region we welcome the opportunity to work closely and constructively with the regulators, government representatives and the business communities,” he said.
The mission that is being jointly organised by the Ministry and Investment Fiji will include 80 private sector representatives which includes more than 40 companies from the private sector. The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will lead the delegation to PNG.
