Sekove Ravoka and Maciu Gauna have been named in the extended East-Asia Pacific (EAP) squad, with Joe Rika named as EAP assistant coach, for the Australian Country Cricket Championships (ACCC) this coming January.
To be held in the Australian capital of Canberra from January 7-14, the ACCC will see teams made up of country cricketers from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia battle it out against the EAP side made up of players from Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Japan and Fiji.
The extended squad of 18 players will be refined to 14 on November 11. With PNG’s Rarua Dikana named as head coach alongside Rika, the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) EAP region office is delighted that the region has such high-quality, indigenous coaches to appoint to lead the team.
Ravoka is currently playing for Cowramup Cricket Club in Western Australia’s Busselton Margaret River Cricket League, while Gauna plays for Wests Illawarra in New South Wales.
