The Team Fiji delegation to the IX Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna presented their i tatau this morning to the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, as they prepare to depart next weekend.
Nailatikau thanked all the athletes and received their i -tatau on behalf of the people of Fiji.
“In receiving your i- tatau, you are informing the people of Fiji that you are ready to perform and represent your country in Wallis and Futuna.” Nailatikau said. “Everybody in Fiji, including myself, wish you the best during the games and may you win as many gold for Fiji as you can.”
Chef de Mission Ms Alini Sovu stated that there is a lot of expectation from the public and the tem have taken on board the powerful messages that was delivered to them by the President this morning at government house.
“Preparation phrase has been completed , and I’m sure all the athletes are ready to perform in their respective sports. In the past games , Fiji has managed to top the medal tallies and we are hoping to repeat that again in Wallis and Futuna, ” said Ms Sovu.
The team is scheduled to depart Fiji at 10:00 pm on Saturday (31st August) for Wallis and Futuna.
