Discussions are underway to establish a forest park on the island of Taveuni.
Government’s Conservator of Forest Samuela Lagataki informed the Hon. Minister for Fisheries and Forests Osea Naiqamu that the park would protect and promote wildlife and forests at the site. He added that the concept is designed to allow Fijians to appreciate the environment and work to protect it.
The Minister is touring the Northern Division and met with stakeholders and officials relevant to his Miniterial portfolio.
Mr Lagataki added that to carry out this project, they would need to work closely with different stakeholders including traditional landowners.
