The town of Sigatoka is expected to come to a stand-still when the Coral Coast celebrates its rugby side’s victory in the Digicel Cup rugby competition this Friday.
The march in town will be to honour the Nadroga 15s side for their three-peat in the national provincial rugby competition.
“On behalf of the people of Sigatoka Town and of course all Nadroga Rugby fans locally and abroad, we wish to congratulate the Nadroga Rugby Union for their continued success and in particular for securing a third straight Digicel Cup win on Saturday against their strong rivals Suva,” said Sigatoka Town’s Special Administrator, Mr. Jay Whyte.
The victory parade will start at 1pm at the Sigatoka Methodist College, crossing the famous Melrose Bridge into Rugby Town and finishing at the Old Bridge.
“We congratulate the Stallions for the magnificent win in a keenly contested final 21 – 12 against Suva last Saturday and we are truly delighted to be part of the champion team’s victory celebrations with the fans of Nadroga,” said Digicel Fiji’s head of marketing, Ms. Sheryl Singh.
Digicel Fiji will hand 2013 Digicel Cup Champions tagged tee-shirts, flags, placards and tote bags to fans during the parade.
Major sponsors of the Nadroga team, Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji will also be heavily involved in making the parade a success.
Meanwhile, the Nadroga team has been hosted to many private functions this week and the team will enjoy a picnic outing with close family and friends on Thursday before Friday’s lunch-time parade in town.
