Concerns raised by the public on how the nursing sector can improve service will be factored into the Business Plan for the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
This follows a meeting by the Ministry’s National Nursing Management Team which will now incorporate concerns raised by the public at consultations led by the Health Minister and Assistant Minister, the Hon. Jone Usamate and Hon. Veena Bhatnagar.
The Business Plan is operational and part of the Health ministry’s Annual Corporate Plan (ACP) which carries out Government’s vision of making quality health easily accessible.
Discussions were also held on reviewing the Nursing Human Resources, current nursing structure, Code of Ethics for Nurses 1999, nursing practice and the adoption of the Service Excellence culture.
The Health Ministry has stressed on a No Tolerance policy for poor customer service, unprofessional attitude and behavior of nurses and practice issues to be referred to the Council and the 1999 Code of Ethics and Conduct for Nurses.
The Nursing Business Development Plan 2015 is now inclusive of human resources, nursing specialisation and changes in Nursing Structure.
