The Office of the Prime Minister will assist Tagaqe Primary School by constructing news teachers’ quarters and carry out maintenance work for the school’s drainage system.
This was announced by the Prime Minister Rear Admiral Voreqe Bainimarama (pictured) during informal talks or a talanoa session held in Korolevu, Nadroga today. The Prime Minister was in Nadroga to officially open the St Peter Channel teachers living quarters.
“I have personally seen the problems faced by the school children and teachers who are using the institution,” he said.
“However I am not satisfied with the conditions of the staff quarters and the drains which face flooding during heavy rain and my office is in the process of finalising funding and assistance for the project.”
Rear Admiral Bainimarama says his government would continue to ensure that education is given due recognition for all Fijians.
“Education is a priority and my government will ensure that our future leaders are given the best resources and opportunity in education through initiatives such as the TOPPERS and TELS Programme,” the PM said.
The Prime Minister also announced the construction of a new morgue in Korolevu and the construction of sea walls for Votua, Votua O Lailai, Tagaqe and Naboutini.
