After a somewhat lukewarm domestic box office opening, The Nun 2 debuts at the global box office with the second-best bow of the Conjuring Universe.
The Nun 2 has had a huge opening weekend at the global box office. The movie, which is the ninth entry in the Conjuring Universe, follows the demonic nun Valak (Bonnie Aarons) as it haunts the halls of a French boarding school, prompting another face-off with Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga). The movie is a direct sequel to 2018’s The Nun, which explored the origin story of Valak after the demon’s first appearance in 2016’s The Conjuring 2.
Per Deadline, the Nun 2 box office has achieved a worldwide opening weekend of $85.3 million. This total makes the new movie the second highest-grossing global bow for the entire Conjuring Universe behind the original The Nun. This news comes in spite of the fact that The Nun 2 had a somewhat middling gross of around $32.6 million at the domestic box office.
