The newly appointed Commissioner for the Western Division, Manasa Tagicakibau, will strengthen the work carried out by his predecessors to develop the division.
Commissioner Tagicakibau said he is prepared to undertake government’s vision of improving service delivery and to improve the lives of ordinary Fijians living in the division.
“I am ready for the challenge and am looking forward to continuing the level of service delivery as my predecessors Commander Joeli Cawaki and Luke Moroivalu,” he said.
“They have certainly set the bar and which I hope to continue and emulate to ensure that the people of the western division contribute positively towards their families, community and the nation.”
He added the western division played an important role in Fiji’s socio-economic development; in particular the role played by the tourism and sugar industry.
“The western division is a very critical component of the Fijian economy as the hub of economic activities and that is why implementation of government policies and programmes are equally important,” Mr Tagicakibau said.
“I would also like to re-affirm to the communities in the four provinces of government’s commitment towards better living standards and infrastructure.
“My former post as Director NDMO has equipped me to take on the challenges and knowing that the division is a disaster prone one, I am ready to part knowledge on the field in the western division.”
Mr Tagicakibau started with his new role on Wednesday, January 7.
