NEW APPOINTMENTS WITHIN CIVIL SERVICE

The Public Service Commission today announced several new appointments within the civil service at the Senior Executive Service grade.

Manasa Tagicakibau has been confirmed the new Director, National Disaster Management at the Ministry of Provincial Development and National Disaster Management. He has been acting on the position since December last year. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Curtin University, Perth, Australia.

Mr Tagicakibau plays a significant role in ensuring the effective facilitation and coordination of disaster risk reduction and disaster management activities in Fiji, in partnership with other government ministries and departments, Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), private sector, statutory bodies and regional and international organizations.

The second appointment is Joeli Koroikata, currently the Principal Administrative Officer within the Public Service Commission (PSC). He has been appointed the Director of the International Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Mr Koroikata joined the civil service as a school teacher in 1981. Having taught for 11 years, he then joined several other Ministries where he served in the administration cadre. He holds a Master of Technology Management in Air Transportation Management, from Swinburne University of Technology.

The Ministry of Agriculture on the other hand now has a new Deputy Secretary Agriculture Development with the appointment of Uraia Waibuta, who formerly held the position of Director Extension. Mr Waibuta brings with him a wealth of experience having served in the Ministry since 1990. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration at the University of the South Pacific.
