The Fiji Roads Authority is advising the public that the Namoli Bridge in Labasa will be closed for urgent repairs this week.
The Authority’s chief executive officer Neil Cook said that while the bridge will be closed today, the contractor has ensured that the alternative route is trafficable.
“The bridge was closed yesterday, Friday 1st March to carry out urgent works and there is a diversion being set up to ensure minimal disruption to commuters ,” CEO Neil Cook said.
While he has also asked the public to bear with contractors as they carry out works, he has also stressed that these repair works need to be complete to avoid any future mishaps or accidents.
“The bridge is located outside of Labasa town and is used by school buses and the general public, so the safety of citizens will come first,” Mr Cook said.
