The jetsetters tasted their second defeat in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries national soccer league yesterday.
Nadi lost to Navua by 3-1 on home soil on a rainy afternoon.
The host took early lead through Napolioni Qasevakatini but it was not enough for the Nadi side as Navua drew level term before the break.
The giant killers came out firing in the second half scoring two goals in two minutes.
The loss sees Nadi drop to third position with 19 points behind Suva, who also have 19 point but have a better goal difference. Ba still remains on the top with 21 points.
In the other match of the day Suva thumped Nadroga by 3-1.
Suva looked dominant in the match with the inclusion of U-20 reps and former Navua midfielder Praneel Kumar.
Meanwhile in the second round the OFC playoffs Ba defeated Hekari United2-0 at Govind Park on Saturday.
Ba now leads the pool with 7 points and will face Solomon Warriors this Wednesday, 3pm at Govind Park.
Abdul � ldX=�0�� year-old Director of Fargo Investments and Empire Nadi – a resident of Bountiful Estate Nadi and originally from Suva tells us his story about his prized possession – BAD BOY.
“I love the sound, speed and especially the looks of these rolling masterpieces. The inspiration of cars will never escape out of my mind. This quality about me will never change or alter in any way. I dream them, I feel them and I think about them all the free time I have,” says Khalid. With such an immense passion for the sport and for the love of cars he also had the aspiration to own one of the ‘baddest’ rides around.
Khalid owns the most sought after 1995 Mitsubishi Evolution III – hand-picked by his father from Japan on one of his business trips. The car is running the powerful 2.0L 4G63T (Turbo) engine on an AWD (All Wheel Drive) setup. The vehicle was modified by Beyond Motor Works in New Zealand and engine modifications are quite detailed and would to be a lot to list down as per the owner. However, Khalid says it has been built to complete racing standards. Some of the details shared by the owner were – Genuine EVO bodykits, EVO spoiler, Aluminum bonnet, 3.5inch complete free flow exhaust system, aftermarket Racing Fuel tank in the boot of the car, Recaro front seats (rear seats taken out), ENKEI Lightened wheels running on Semi-slicks.
As stated earlier the vehicle was built to racing standards and Mr. Khalid utilizes it for racing reasons only. Despite the car being street legal, the owner does not take it out on the roads as he feels safety is the highest priority when owning and driving such powerful machines. Despite having vast experience in the line of drag racing the owner still does not wish to put anything to risk – him, the car or the Motoring public hence the BAD BOY is only to run the drag strip.
Khalid has participated in drag races before and has done a best time of 12.17seconds with the car. By far it is the fastest 4 cylinder and fastest All Wheel Drive in Fiji officially. The vehicle has been away from the tracks for some time however the owner promises it will soon be back to show once again who is the ‘baddest’ one around. When asked why the name BADBOY – the owner says it was simply to prove that the vehicle really is a BADBOY on the tracks!
Being a responsible motorist is quite an important in the eyes of Mr Khalid. He applauds the effort of the Fiji Car Club is organizing enthusiasts who have the passion to own and drive fast cars. It all comes down to the fact that we need to keep all that on the tracks and not on the streets. The roads already are quite hazardous and dangerous driving/ over speeding make it worse. Khalid shares something which is also written on his EVO rear bumper – “Speed kills… Dragging doesn’t” so if people have the need for speed take it to the drag races rather than the streets.
