Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator Ms Shamima Ali has been invited to speak at the 19th Biennial Conference of Clubs at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Ms Ali was invited by the President of the Federation of Soroptomist International South West Pacific Siew Yong Gnanalingam to speak on the topic “Educating and Empowering Women to Eliminate Violence against Women”.
Ms Ali will focus on how Fiji has been able to deal with the issue as well as how the role of women could create more impact in tackling gender related violence.
The conference will be attended by around 400 delegates from countries of the South West Pacific as well as from Europe, America, Great Britain and Ireland.
Also joining Ms Ali on the panel of speakers are Mrs Julie Soso, the Governor of Eastern Highlands and President of the Women’s Council in PNG and well known Malaysian Women’s Activist Ms Ivy Josiah of the Women’s Aid Organisation, Malaysia.
The conference is from May 2 to 4.
