Kuwait’s Non – resident Ambassador to Fiji Khaled Mohammed A –Shaibani today presented his credentials to His Excellency the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau at Government House.
In presenting his credentials His Excellency Al–Shaibani said Kuwait was pleased to continue its strong relations with Fiji since both countries established diplomatic relations in 2005.
In doing so Kuwait became the first country from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to establish relations with any Pacific Island country.
He said Kuwait was appreciative of Fiji’s leadership role in global peacekeeping and pointed out that Fiji has been instrumental in ensuring peace in the Middle East for a long time to which Kuwait was very grateful for.
He also said Kuwait was working towards strengthening its bilateral ties with Fiji by exploring areas of cooperation in the different sectors.
His Excellency Ratu Epeli in congratulating Ambassador Al – Shaibani said he wished that relations between the two countries would continue to grow in the different sectors.
Fiji and Kuwait also signed Air Service Agreements (ASA) in 2010 while a significant number of Fijians are also working in Kuwait in its different sectors particularly in security, health and the aviation sector.
He also paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and the Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
