The FRU will be conducting IRB Strength and Conditioning Level 1 courses at the following venues and dates. Interested participants are encouraged to register in advance.
Topics covered will include Long Term Player Development Model, Functional Screening, Anatomical Adaptation, Demands of the Game, Conditioning, Periodization & Planning, Principles of Training and Components of Fitness.
All participants are to undertake the Pre-Course requirements Free Online quizzes of IRB Rugby Ready and IRB Strength & Conditioning before registering for the course. Visit www.irb.com, click on Training and Education, and then click on IRB Passport – log in if you’re a new user, then attempt the online quizzes stated above. Please ensure that you’ve completed this requirement and read relevant course notes prior to attending the course.

This course is ideal for schools (primary & secondary) rugby coaches, club coaches and trainers in establishing proper understanding on physical development of Rugby players at all levels. Rugby is an evolving sport and the course is designed to update participants on the current status of Rugby and relevant conditioning demands for players at all levels from the fundamental stage through to the elite stage of the player pathway.
Participants are required to bring their training gear as the course will also include practical gym and field based sessions.
