The Lautoka Customs Intelligence Unit (LCIU) has organised a community awareness program in the western division, which started on Monday.

“The community outreach is aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on the roles of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA),” FRCA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jitoko Tikolevu said.

“We would like to have a better relationship with our stakeholders who will in turn assist us in carrying out our duties.

“We would also like to hear their views and concerns, and improve our processes if we need to. On the other hand, if members of the public understood our roles better, they can also assist FRCA curb corruption by reporting such activities.

“We recently opened two offices in the western division- in Sigatoka and Rakiraki early this year. These roadshows are very critical to us and we would like to reach out to the people and build our relationship,” Mr Tikolevu said.

FRCA Taxation and Customs Officers will accompany the unit and make presentations on tax and customs matters.

“We would like to urge members of the public to participate in this awareness program,” Mr Tikolevu added.
