INDUCTION OF THE DIVISIONAL COMMISSIONERS

The newly appointed Divisional Commissioners of the Ministry of Rural & Maritime Development and National Disaster Management will undergo three (3) days induction training from tomorrow.

Acting Permanent Secretary, Mr Setareki Tale said the training is to familiarise the Divisional Commissioners on their roles and responsibilities.

“The Divisional Commissioners plays a pivotal role in the development of our rural and remote communities responsible for the coordination and implementation of Governments Integrated Rural Development Framework (IRD).

“The training is to familiarizsbetter manage risks, identify the right business opportunities and address strategic challenges that may come their way.

“We will have presentations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry & Trade, Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Finance and a few others,” Mr Tale emphasised.

Mr Tale went on to say that a forum with former Divisional Commissioners will also be part of the programme.

In addition, a discussion session has also been organised to look at addressing the challenges in the implementation of Governments Integrated Rural Development Framework (IRDF).

“It is that training such as this contributes to the development of a professional, well trained and well-rounded public servant,” Mr Tale reiterated.

The induction training will be conducted by the Minister for Agriculture, Rural & Maritime Development and National Disaster Management, Hon. Inia Seruiratu and the Assistant Minister Hon. Joeli Cawaki together with representatives from the central agencies of Government.

The training was  held at the Ministry Conference Room from the 25th -27th of February, 2015.
