A Hindu temple and community center is being planned in Willenhall in West Midlands region of England (United Kingdom).
Besides worship, meditation, religious discourses, chanting and prayer; it also plans to provide education classes, elder day-care, leisure activities, employment training, yoga, social activities, dance classes, etc.; and might hold weddings and funerals also, reports suggest. Plans have reportedly been submitted to Wolverhampton City Council.
Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, applauded efforts of project leaders and area community to realize this Hindu temple and community center.
Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this new temple would focus in this direction. Zed stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.
Willenhall, on River Tame, which has origins in an early Saxon settlement, is historically famous for manufacturing keys and locks.
