Government’s commitment to developing Fiji’s sporting sector was commended today by the Komo cricket team following the presentation of cricket gear valued at more than $3,000.
The Head of Government, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama presented the new sporting equipment to the rural cricket team this afternoon at Albert Park in Suva.
Team manager, Pauliasi Tui Afata said this timely assistance will boost the team’s preparation for upcoming tournaments.
“For a small and remote island such as Komo, this assistance has been a great boost to our preparations for next week’s island zone qualifiers,” Mr Afata said.
“We would like to thank the Prime Minister and his government for his commitment to assisting rural sporting teams.”
In presenting the new equipment, the Prime Minister wished the cricket team success in future games and highlighted that Government will continue developing Fiji’s sporting sector by assisting other sporting bodies.
“Government is pleased to be of assistance to you in your preparations for next week’s games,” the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile the Head of Government will also meet this week with the Ono Cricket Team and present similar equipment to them.
