There was a fantastic turn out at the FSC Cricket Ground today for the Suva Special Schools’ Fun Day.

Teams from the Fiji School for the Blind, Gospel School for the Deaf, Suva Special School and Nausori Special School turned out for a round robin pairs competition to show off the cricket skills they have been working on in term two.

In game one the team from Suva had a narrow three-run win over Fiji School for the Blind, with the final margin being 35 to 32 runs.  Sireli (10) and Tevita (10) were respectively the top scorers for their schools.

Meanwhile the team from Gospel took on Naurori, which saw them run out two-run winners, with a score of 52 to 50.

Game three saw a thumping win for Nausori, this time in a massive 92 to 53 margin over Suva.  Setareki top-scored for the winners in this game, making 16 runs, whilst Peni was the best with the bat for Suva, scoring 12.

In game four it was another big winning margin, this time for Gospel who scored 99 runs to the Fiji School for the Blind’s 32.  Luisa was exceptional for Gospel, scoring 33 runs.

In the first game of the final round of the tournament Gospel racked up their third win for the day, this time against Suva.  It was a much closer affair this time however, with Gospel making 44 runs to Suva’s 30.  Nasoni from Gospel top-scored for the match with 22 runs.

The final game of the day saw the Fiji School of the Blind take their first win for the day over Nausori.  They scored 62 runs to Nausori’s 55.

At the conclusion of the day Gospel School for the Deaf came out on top, winning all three of their matches, whilst Suva Special School, Nausori Special School, and the Fiji School for the Blind all walked away with one win apiece.  Cricket Fiji would like to congratulate all students involved in the tournament, and thank all the teachers for their work in bringing the students from the respective schools all together.
