Gospel High School racked up the first win in the girls’ division of the 2014 Suva Secondary Schools’ Competition, after defeating the team from Ballantine Memorial School (BMS) at Albert Park yesterday afternoon.
In the first match of the under-16 girls’ division, Gospel won the toss and sent BMS into bat. BMS were dismissed form 30 runs in the ninth over of the match, with Keu bowling excellently for Gospel with figures of 3-6. In reply Gospel easily reached the winning target to secure victory in just the third over of their innings.
Today competition will begin in the boys’ under-18 category, with two matches at Albert Park this afternoon. The team from Dudley High School will take on special guests Ratu Finau Secondary School from Lakeba at Albert Park one, whilst it’s sure to be a cracking game over on ground two between Marist Brothers’ High School and John Wesley College, with both teams having players who have represented Fiji at an under-19 level.
Play will commence at approximately 3pm.
