Former actor Nanda died on Tuesday morning at her residence in Versova. Her funeral took place at in Oshiwara crematorium said the police. She was 75-year-old and died natural death said the police.
Few policemen were deployed outside her bungalow for the bandobast. The police said there were a couple of veterans from the film industry that had visited Nanda’s residence after they learnt about her death. She was living at her sea-facing bungalow on Yari Road, Versova.
Nanda was born on January 8, 1939, to a Marathi-speaking family in Bombay. Her dad was actor Master Vinayak, and mom’s name was Meenaxi.
She has two brothers and a sister, who married into the Sindhi-speaking Gurbaxani family. She has a niece named Geeta. She is the great-niece of film-maker V. Shantaram, who fathered yesteryear actress Rajshri.
