The 2013 Pepsi ICC East Asia Pacific T20 Cricket Senior men’s tournament kicks off today in Auckland, New Zealand and Fiji are the best prepared they have ever been to win the tournament which will see them progress to the Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Dubai later in 2013.
“The boys have done the hard work for the last 2 months and all that hard work will pay off this week” said National Coach Joeli Mateyawa. “I have told the boys that they are representing everyone in Fiji and when they put on the Fiji jersey that must give 100% and leave nothing in the tank”
Joe Rika has been rewarded with the captaincy and Joji Bulabalavu as vice captain for the tournament.
“It is always an honor to captain my country and I have made a promise to the boys that I will do each player proud” said a proud Josefa Rika.
Fiji will open their campaign against Indonesia at 10:30am New Zealand time today and are confident of a victory. The tournament schedule will see Fiji play Japan and Cook Islands on Monday, a rest day on Tuesday, PNG and Samoa on Wednesday and Vanuatu on Thursday with the Final being played on Thursday afternoon.
