“At this time of the year we all reflect on those, who through circumstances beyond their controlfind themselves in difficult situations.”
The Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, Denarau Island, for the third year running, made the dreams of so many children come true as they visited the Lautoka Hospital Children’s Ward and Loloma Home in Sabeto on Friday, December 5.
Approximately 40 Ambassadors led by Sofitel’s General Manager, Mr Alan Burrows took an early Christmas cheer for the children, singing Christmas carols and taking with them morning tea and gifts which were donated by staff and guests of the resort.
The children at the Lautoka Hospital children’s ward were taken by surprise as the team walked through the ward singing carols and
handed out soft toys.
Tears filled the eyes of family members as for some; all hope in Christmas has been dampened with their child being admitted this time of the year.
Many of the staff experienced different emotions as they handed out gift to the children they had never met before.
After the Lautoka Hospital, the team headed to Loloma Home which is nestled in the interiors of the sleeping giants of Sabeto.
Being their third annual visit to the home brought about joy from the orphanage as most of the staff remembered the names of the children which meant so much to them. Morning tea was shared, carols were sung and gifts handed out to the children.
“At this time of year we all reflect on those, who through circumstances beyond their control find themselves in difficult circumstances. As a significant business in the tourism sector, we wanted to give some additional Christmas cheer to some places that we help all year round. For me, experiencing my first Christmas in Fiji, it was a humbling but uplifting experience to go to Loloma Home and see the joy our visit brought to the mothers & children at the home,”said Mr Burrows.
The Fiji Loloma Orphanage is a refuge for desperate mothers and their children. Loloma Home also cares for orphans, the homeless and the elderly.
