Foneology and LTA have confirmed that e-ticketing registration has started once again in the Central/ Eastern Division from today. LTA media relations officer Iliesa Sokia confirmed that Vodafone has restarted e-ticketing registration in the Suva, Nausori/Tailevu and Navua corridor from today and will extend this to Lami and Navua in the next few days.
“Members of the public are advised to register early to take advantage of the limited time $2.00 card offer”, said Mr. Sokia. The $2.00 offer will only be available for the next few weeks after which the card prices are expected to go back to $10.00. Everyone travelling on the bus including students will need to have an e-ticketing card. Cash payment of fare is expected to be phased out with e-ticketing becoming the compulsory mode of payment of bus fare. LTA is expected to start enforcing compliance to e-ticketing on all public buses from the 1st of May. According to LTA, all buses are required to have the e-ticketing machines installed and activated for use by the public by the end of April or face heavy penalties.
Mr Sokia further advised that members of the public can check with Vodafone on the closest location where they could register. For students who are not covered by the Government’s subsidised bus fare scheme, school principals and head teachers can make arrangements for e-ticketing registration teams to visit their schools. A number of schools have already taken advantage of this offer whereby registration forms are made available to the schools in advance which are filled by the students with the help of teachers and witnessed by the respective schools Principal or the Head Teacher. E-ticketing registration teams then visit the school to complete the registration which is much more orderly, convenient and easier for the students specially those in the junior grades. Schools that wish to make an arrangement can contact Vodafone on 3312-000.
The following places will be open for e-ticketing registrations from Monday 15th April in the Central/Eastern Division; Valuefone Market Kiosk at Suva Bus stand, Valuefone outlets in Thompson St, Coming St, Waimanu Rd Valuefone Samabula behind Samabula Post Office, Valuefone Main St Nausori, Valuefone Korovou Tailevu. Vodafone MHCC, Vodafone Triangle, MHCC Cart opposite Westpac, Ivi Triangle opposite ANZ House, MH Nausori carpark and Mr Mobile outlets in Sports City Laucala Bay and Midcity in Suva.
More locations will be announced in the coming days to cover Lami, Navua and Nasinu areas.
