The fastest man in the Pacific arrived in Nadi to a group of cheering crowd mostly made up of young Mount Saint Mary’s Primary School athletics squad yesterday afternoon.
Digicel Fiji put on a welcome party ‘fit for a king’ for its brand ambassador Banuve Tabakaucoro, the sprint champion was delighted with the reception after winning three gold medals and setting two Pacific Games records in the 100 and 200metres last week.
“This is great, I’m so happy to receive such recognition and I want to thank my wonderful sponsor, Digicel Fiji for organizing this gala welcome home ceremony,” said Tabakaucoro.
He was later surprised by the Digicel Fiji Nadi office staff as they celebrated his 21st birthday with light refreshments and a special birthday cake for him.
Tabakaucoro turned 21 last Wednesday, the same day he won the 100metres gold medal and broke the 18-year old Pacific Games record in the blue-ribbon event.
