Digicel Fiji has announced that as part of its extensive FJ$70m network upgrade, Labasa, Taveuni, Tavua, Navua and Pacific Harbour switches on to 3G+
Friday 29th August 2014 – Digicel Fiji has announced that its continuing nation-wide rollout of 3G+ is on track. This follows the new 3G+ network introduced in Labasa, Taveuni, Tavua, Navua and Pacific Harbour. This move is part of Digicel Fiji’s huge FJ$70million investment announced last month.
Digicel Fiji Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Darren McLean said, “The 3G+ roll-out to the five towns is of great news for the residents of those areas. I know our customers up North in Labasa and Taveuni are now on par with the rest of the country. There have been recent concerns with many customers complaining about their existing data network and we are happy to provide them with a much better choice. This highlights our ongoing commitment to Vanua Levu with more towns to switch on 3G+ in coming weeks. ”
The central Labasa towns including the main residential areas of Vunika, Tabia, Wailevu and parts of Bulileka have 3G+ coverage.
It is wonderful that Labasa, which has a lot of small business enterprises, a major percentage of youth at major universities and a strong farming background, has access to 3G+ services. Some parts of Taveuni is switched to 3G+ while the wider Tavua, Navua and Pacific Harbour towns have 3G+ services from yesterday.
“Digicel will announce further enhancements to its network upgrade in the future. Our new superfast network will enhance the way people communicate in Labasa, Taveuni, Tavua, Navua and Pacific Harbour. The 3G+ introduction in the five towns will provide cutting edge solutions for our corporate customers.” McLean said.
