Wednesday, 11 June 2014 – Digicel Fiji has announced its sponsorship of the Ba Riverside Carnival with a $75,000 contribution in cash and kind.
This is the first time, Digicel Fiji has joined hands with the Ba Riverside Carnival Committee to sponsor this fete. Ba, well known as the ‘soccer crazy’ town is also celebrating her 75th anniversary.
Digicel Fiji’s Commercial Director, Mr. Andrew Skelton said, “ We’re absolutely delighted to support the Ba Town Council taking up the naming rights sponsorship of the Ba Riverside Carnival.”
“This is a special year, Ba is celebrating her 75th anniversary and we at Digicel Fiji have matched that for every dollar, providing $75,000 sponsorship,” added Mr. Skelton.
The two-year Riverside Carnival deal was signed at the Ba Town Council chambers by Ba’s Special Administrator, Mr. Praveen Bala and Mr. Skelton.
“I’m happy to welcome Digicel on board as the naming rights sponsor for the Riverside Carnival. All the proceeds raised from this event will go towards the beautification of the municipality,” said Mr. Bala.
“This year’s carnival funds will cater for expenses in construction of Ba Civic Museum and the preparation of the 75th anniversary celebrations, which will be year-long.”
Mr. Skelton is adamant the carnival will be a success and hopes Ba stands united to support this fete with people from all races and walks of life promised to have a fun-filled and entertaining week.
The Ba Riverside Carnival is the only one held in the town annually and will be staged from August 4th to 9th at the Vinod Patel Park.
