The Fiji Surfing Association (FSA) and Cricket Fiji experienced a great turn out of children and parents alike for the event to celebrate World Water Safety Day at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi last Saturday.
With it estimated that 388,000 people died as a result of drowning last year, the day aimed to create greater awareness about water safety education and try to reduce the number of deaths from drowning annually in Fiji. The FSA marked the day with a beach clean up, water-based activities, barbeque lunch, and other activities including beach cricket.
As well as partnering with Cricket Fiji for the event, the day was also supported by McDonald’s Fiji, Island Surf Fiji, South Pacific Butchering and Smugglers Cove Resort.
