Last night marked the end of the four week long Fiji Badminton Business House Tournament. Spectacular performances from all four teams (FMF, Sun Insurance, Fiji Sun, Unitex FASANOC) were witnessed at the Yat Sen Hall yesterday as the teams battled out their final round in the tournament. The end of the night saw FMF firmly securing its position as the 2014 Badminton Business House champions after a tireless 13 games against Unitex FASANOC All Stars (10-3) in the championship finals. This was sweet revenge after losing their tie against the All Stars in the preliminaries last week.
Fiji Sun also bagged the third position after narrowly beating Sun Insurance (8-5) in the third and fourth place play-offs.
The Fiji Badminton Association is very pleased with the performances displayed by each team, the turnout each week, as well as the tournament’s success. FBA President, Barry Whiteside, who was on hand to present the prizes, said that the FBA, looking to keep the momentum of the sport growing, looks to hold similar tournaments for juniors and doubles partners in the near future. In addition with its efforts to promote the sport, they would like to inform the public of the many opportunities to be part of the badminton community with Badminton Socials every Friday (6pm-8pm) and Coaching Clinics every Saturday (9am-11am), at the Yat Sen School Hall.
