Students of Nadi Centre for Special Education (Nadi Special School) will now have access to basic computer education – thanks to the Stitt family which worked closely with the Fiji Beach Resort & Spa- Managed by Hilton in conjunction with Rotary Club of Nadi to pass on the much needed equipment.
The family which hails from Australia is here on a holiday and decided to give something back to the community. Being no strangers to Fiji, the Stitt family visits the country every year.
Accepting the five sets of computers, School Head Teacher, Shiro Mani Felix said he is very thankful to the donors for recognizing their work.
“We are very happy with the donation made here today, and we also want the people to know of the work we do here, ” he said.
The group also donated story books to the school’s library.
Fond of the Fijian tradition and lifestyles, family head Mark Stitt said he enjoys helping the students and those in need to enhance their life.
“I asked around about what was the one thing they need in Fiji, apart from water. And they told me education. So we went back to Hilton Resort and spoke to some of the staffs and they expressed, they had an interest.”
“And I noticed that the Nadi Special School needed much help,” he said.
Also present at the handover ceremony, Rotary Club of Nadi president Krupesh Patel said the donation was a result of donors who cared about the community.
“These computers will go a long way in promoting education for special kids,” Mr Patel said.
Meanwhile the group of donors also donated three computers to the Nadi Police Station and one to Foundation for Education of Needy Children (FENC Fiji).
