Tavarua Island Resort is proud to announce their continued sponsorship and hosting of the Volcom Fiji pro 2013. This years event is the 4th stop on the ASP world championship tour for 2013 bringing together 34 of the worlds best professional surfers as they compete in the race for the title.
World Champion Joel Parkinson will continue on his path in defending his number one place against some strong competition, including 11 time world champion and last years 2012 Volcom Fiji Pro winner, Kelly Slater. This year the competitors come from all points on the globe including: Australia, USA, Hawaii, Brazil, France, South Africa, Tahiti and the wild card entry from Fiji.
The wild card entry is chosen from the best Fijian surfers in the FSA – Fiji Surf Association. Last years entry – Isei Tokovou – surfed against Kelly Slater to the delight of the Fijian audience. Whether on television, smart phone or your computer – over 32 million people worldwide tuned in to watch last year and the anticipation for this years event is growing.
This years contest is Volcom’s second ASP World Title event to be held at the world-class breaks of Cloudbreak and Restaurants, with a total prize money package of $450,000 USD. Sponsors for this years contest include: Tavarua Island Resort, Volcom, the ASP and Air Pacific (soon to be Fiji Airways).
