The Fiji Roads Authority advises all motorists and travelers using the Suva-Nausori corridor that due to large water main burst on the Laqere Bridge stretch in Nasinu the middle lane is temporarily closed to traffic.
However, FRA maintenance contractor, Fulton Hogan Highways(FHH) are trying to get that surface fixed and open the lane by 3pm today (09.05.13).
Due to the broken water main, a wide portion of road seal has been damaged and for temporary measure, this lane will be made safe and trafficable but the major pavement repair works is programmed for tonight.
FRA has been working very closely with the Water Authority of Fiji to ensure work is completed on time.
This section will be temporarily repaired to allow for smooth peak traffic flow in all lanes by late afternoon today with the speed limit restriction remaining under 30km for safety.
A permanent repair will commence tonight which will include the wider area to ensure that FRA captures the full pavement damage.
This site will be under speed restriction tomorrow morning as well on full use until asphalt layer is constructed depending on surface condition and weather.
The permanent reinstatement of the road is expected to be done by this weekend.
Meanwhile, FRA will be monitoring the site closely under all phases and provide updates to the public as and when necessary.
