The Melanesian Spearhead Group’s (MSG) Eminent Persons Group met the Minister for Education Ambassador Bole this morning to identify areas of cooperation where MSG countries can work in collaboration with regard to education.
The focus of the deliberation was strengthening relationship and taking full advantage of the proposal to work together in the region.
“Melanesia compromises of the bigger island nations with resources and population and this forum has enabled to develop strategies for the utilization of our resources” said Ambassador Bole.
During the consultations, main issues for discussion were centered around mainstreaming Technical and Vocational Education in secondary schools to reduce school dropout rates, voluntary teacher exchange scheme which included the retired teachers and the Melanesian Arts and Culture Festival.
The MSG group was very keen to exchange ideas to adopt and to formulate a vision and roadmap for the next 25 years.
