Minister for Agriculture, Inia Seruiratu said that the show’s growing popularity continues to attract people from all walks of life to view, learn, buy, sell or just to have a good time with the mini competitions or entertainments provided during the event.
“The show is also a platform for Careers Expo to inform our school children, women and our youth that they can make a decent living or career in the agriculture sector,” Mr Seruiratu said.
“This year’s theme “Agriculture for Fiji’s Health and Wealth” was coined to capture the importance of agriculture in ensuring a healthy and wealthy Fiji and its citizens.”
“It is also to remind us that in our pursuit of health and wealth through agriculture, we must also stay focussed on the need to maintain a balance of having a healthy and wealthy biodiversity.”
Minister Seruiratu added that in order to capture the essence of this message, there will be four full days of displays of agriculture, fisheries and forestry produce and products, technologies and demonstrations.
“Due to the success of the 2012 Agriculture Show in Lautoka and the demand from the people in the Western Division, the Ministry will again hold this year’s events in Lautoka,” Mr Seruiratu said.
