Air Pacific (soon to be Fiji Airways) has started servicing Australia with its new A330-200 Airbus from Monday, April 22.
The brand-new state-of-the-art Airbus which arrived into the country on March 19 complete with the Fiji Airways livery started its first commercial flight on April 2 to New Zealand and later to Hong Kong.
The new A330 will service three destinations in Australia – Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Brisbane is the first city in Australia to see the A330 which will be flying there five times a week until July.
Sydney A330 flights start on June 8. Weekly flights by A330 and B737 aircraft will increase from 13 to 14 in September, offering customers a double daily every day of the week and up to 17 flights a week during the peak season.
The first Melbourne A330 flight will be in December. Combined A330 and B737 frequencies will increase from 5 to 6 in the December peak period.

To mark the inaugural flight, Air Pacific also invited its freight and ticketing agents together with other stakeholders to be part of the historic flight.
Tourism Fiji CEO Rick Hamilton referred to the inaugural flight to Australia onboard the new A330 as, “A world class product for a world class destination”.
“The A330 will not only provide growth for our short haul markets, but is particularly exciting for our long haul markets of China, US and beyond,” Mr Hamilton offered.
“The passenger’s holiday to Fiji truly begins once they board the new livery,” Mr Hamilton said.
