Some people were glued to their TVs last night to watch all the antics at the star-studded MTV Movie Awards, but others were just waiting for what aired afterward: the much-anticipated trailer for “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” But for those who didn’t catch the two-and-a-half minute montage, take a peek by clicking here.
Even though the film won’t premiere until Nov. 22, fans of last year’s first installment will be thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence reprising her roles as the fierce competitor, Katniss Everdeen. After seeing Everdeen and Peta Malark (played by Josh Hutcherson) happily greeting a cheering crowd as victors of the 74th Hunger Games, President Snow (actor Donald Sutherland) is seen plotting against her. “She’s not who they think she is: She just wants to save her skin, simple as that,” he growls. “She has become a beacon of hope for them. She has to be eliminated.”
From there, expect dazzling views of the glittering Capital, as well as glimpses of Haymitch Abernath (Woody Harrelson), Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) and even Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth).
“Her entire species must be eradicated, the other victors,” concludes President Snow as the the trailer comes to a close. “Because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her, they all think they’re invincible.”
