Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s ended its 26th tournament successfully, after defending champions Westfield defeated Tale Babas at the Cup final, 31-7, in Prince Charles Park, Nadi.
It was a tough battle between the two teams, but Westfield secured their victory after scoring five tries, leaving Tale Babas with one.
Westfield President, Ponijese Lou said they have been confident from the beginning.
“We were taking one match as it comes as we are the defending champions for Nawaka 7s, we were confident from the start from day 1 that we will retain our title.”
Tale Babas coach Iliesa Delasau said they have been preparing for a long time.
“We have been nurturing players from the milo kaji competition right up to the Fiji Secondary School Deans competition than they make it up to the squad,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s president Mataiasi Nabau said the tournament was a success.
“It has been a great and successful tournament, as the organizer of the tournament we are very happy with the crowd turnout and the number of players participating we would like to thank the Pacific Beverages for the sponsorship this year.”
In other finals, all the way from Sigatoka, Ratu Fiiise defeated Koroba, 15-5 to win the shield finals. Bowl final was dominated by Fiji Police, 27-5, against Yamacia. Red Rock won the plate final against Western Police, 17-7.
