The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reassured its members and the public in the Western town that flooding is not being caused by an opening in the Vaturu dam.
In a statement this afternoon, chamber president Dr Ram Raju said there was “no key in the Vaturu dam as speculated.”
He said there is a spillway which allows excess water to spill into the Nadi river system but “no one is opening any key causing sudden flash floods.”
Dr Raju said there was no need to panic as he had confirmed with authorities and would keep chambers members informed.
