Baggage and personal possessions belonging to travellers at Nadi International Airport are being subjected to additional security measures implemented by Airports Fiji Limited (AFL).
The Acting Chairman of AFL, Faiz Khan, said that AFL is upgrading its baggage-handling procedures to ensure that the service users receive at Nadi Airport is world class.
Mr. Khan said that AFL is unhappy with a number of past practices – including instances of theft – and that AFL is taking steps to enhance performance.
Any passenger who has had items lost or misplaced should consult the advertisement published in the Fiji Sun or contact AFL, as many items are available for collection.
“We are also currently reviewing the contracted services provided to AFL,” Mr. Khan said.
“We want to make sure that all facets of operation at Nadi Airport meet our very high standards.”
The Attorney-General and Minister for Public Enterprise, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, welcomed these steps as part of the larger process of upgrading Nadi Airport.
“The terminal at Nadi will undergo a modernised redesign, which will completely transform the passenger’s experience at the airport,” the Attorney-General said.
“We want to make sure that our new airport provides the best possible service to our customers.”
This project is due to begin in April.
