Fiji will be featuring ten players that will be playing at the Westpac Stadium for the first time today as they will take on Scotland in their opening match.
Ulaiasi Lawavou is one of ten players and he said it will be a challenge to him.
“Like all the players in the team, I want to achieve my goal and it all depend on the hard work and dedication but I can assure you that I will give my very best out there in the field,” he said.
The other players are Benito Eremasi, Joji Ragamate, Josua Tuisova, Manasa Nayagi, Manueli Laqai, Jasa Veremalua, Jone Vota, Nemani Nagusa and Captain Setefano Cakau.
Lawavou mentioned they are taking one game at a time.
“We are not taking the first match against Scotland lightly and I know they will be a good challenge for us too,” he said.
National Coach Timoci Wainiqolo said the team will be focusing on working together as they will be also playing different positions.
“It’s time for a change but the team will also be focusing in working together out there in the field,” he said.
The Fiji team to take on Scotland at 1.50pm today:
Ulaiasi Lawavou, Setefano Cakau, Manueli Lagai, Joji Ragamate, Ilai Tinai, Josua Tuisova and Samisoni Viriviri.
Fiji’s second match is against Australia at 4.46pm and our last pool match is against Portugal at 8.34 tonight.
The first pool match of the tournament kicks off 12pm between France and Kenya.
The Cup quarterfinals start 1.33pm tomorrow with the Cup semifinals at 5.35pm.
The Cup final will be played at 8.30pm.
