The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has successfully addressed the alleged kerosene-like odor that was experienced by certain customers in Nausori, Nakasi, Muanikoso and Waila areas.
The Authority has ascertained that the change in taste and odor was a result of the heavy rain over the weekend – where most debris, minerals, slimy soil and dissolved metals were received into the water treatment facility.
All water quality parameters tested, conducted both on Sunday (29/09) and Monday (30/09) are well within the Fiji National Drinking Water Quality Standards.
The Authority would like to confirm that no form or substance of kerosene was found in the water supply system, this was evident in the numerous water quality tests that were performed by WAF Laboratory specialists.
The WAF reassures customers that the water supply supplied from all of its Water Treatment Plants around the country is safe for human consumption.
