A woman in her 40s died after the vehicle she was traveling in hit electric post along Yalalevu in Ba yesterday afternoon.
The victim who was a Canadian citizen was a passenger with two others in a vehicle driven by a 22 year old man of Tavarua, Ba.
It is alleged the suspect while trying to overtake a minibus collided with an oncoming vehicle and the impact resulted in the vehicle veering off the road and hit an electric post.
The victim allegedly died at the scene.
The driver was treated and released and will be questioned soon, while the two passengers are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital under observation.
Investigations continue and the road death toll currently stands at 65 compared to 62 for the same period last year.
