A New Zealand couple is over the moon at being the first guests to check in at Fiji’s newest resort.
Paul and Rona Fairfield, of Wellington did not even dream that their booking would be long remembered by them and Resort Relax Fiji.

Mr Fairfield said they had had heard the resort was new but did not dream that they were going to be the first guests at a soft opening on October 2.

“We are being spoilt here at the resort and it’s like we have won the lotto,” he said.

“We arrived on Tuesday and weren’t sure whether we were going to be the first guests,” he said.

Mr Fairfield said it was a great feeling and something they would cherish.

“It has a unique location and the waterway running alongside the resort is beautiful,” he said.

Resort general manager Ronald Venkatesh was also ecstatic at being in charge of a newly built resort.

He said the resort was already receiving major bookings with their 30 rooms expected to reach 57 percent by last weekend.

Of the 30 rooms, two are superior, three are family sizes, 12 king sizes and 10 twin share.

The resort boasts international standard service with facilities that would match five-star resorts.

“We have a mini golf course and a range of acticities including jet skis and paddle boats,” he said.

The scenic view from the restaurant and bar facing the waterway is magnificent with a continuous stream of fresh breeze meandering its way through the hotel.

The mini golf course is set near the waterway which provides the beautiful backdrop.

Mr Venkatesh said the resort was fully booked for Fiji Day on October 10.

The major opening for the resort will be held on October 30 and guests includes dignitaries from Fiji and New Zealand, Bollywood stars along with a “huge party,”

Mr Venkatesh was previously general manager with Tadrai Resort on Mana Island and have also been on several resorts and hotels.

“But this the first resort I am general manager of from the opening,” he said.
