Mariners and villagers living near and around Waya Island are being requested to keep a look out for 4 people who went missing during a fishing trip around 10pm last night.
The eight men aged between 35-52 years are from Waya Island.
The group had gone out fishing when they encountered some problems.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that four of them managed to swim to Namara village around 1am this morning, while the others remain missing as of lunch time today.
The boat with the name “Rosi” is also missing and we are requesting those on neighbouring islands to keep a look out for the missing four.
A search is currently being conducted with the assistance of Dive Trek resort staff.
