The Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) 2015 will focus on the theme of ‘Tourism and the Community’ placing emphasis on the importance of the tourism industry to Fiji’s economy and the numerous positive impacts the industry has on the lives of the local community.
Tourism Fiji’s Director of Events, Ms Sally Cooper revealed that 500 peopleare confirmed to participate in Fiji’s premier tourism industry event, at the close of registrations last week Friday, 1 May.
A record 292 Fijian tourism product and service providers have registered for the three-day event, and a total of 125 booths have been booked. 169 international buyers and media are confirmed to attend FTE this year, who are being brought in by the platinum sponsor, Fiji Airways.
Tourist Transport Fiji (TTF) and ATS Pacific are facilitating meet and greet, as well as accommodating on the ground transfers throughout FTE 2015.
“This year at FTE there is a focus on Tourism and the Community; how Tourism can benefit our local community through employment opportunities, supporting Fijian Made and Fijian Crafted by working with Fijian entertainers and artists,” Ms Cooper says.
“Community and tourism are symbiotic in Fiji, which will be illustrated beautifully by FTE – our Fijian communities with their blissful attitude to life and their exuberant demeanour is what attracts tourists.”
FTE 2015 will commence with an official welcome ceremony byPacific Destinations, followed by a fashion show of ‘Fijian Made’ by Fijian designers in conjunction with support from Rosie DMC and Accor.
“In this community theme, Westpac Bank have given their exhibition space to Rise Beyond the Reef to exhibit the products produced by rural women. Even the Fiji Coffee and Fiji Water on offer throughout FTE are Fijian Made,” Ms Cooper adds.
