Former Fiji 7s flyer Joeli Lutumailagi, today confirmed to The Jet newspaper that he is very keen on trying out for the Rugby World Cup 7s squad this year, after hearing rumors saying that he will not be able to play.

“From what I’ve been hearing about what the boys here in camp say about me. That I won’t be able to make it for the world cup has really made me want to train hard again, which I’m starting to do,” he said.

The Narata man of Nadroga also mentioned that he is keeping a close eye on his recovery and hopes to make it for the national trials.

Lutumailagi who now plays for the French ProD2 club, Narborne, was sidelined for 9 months due to neck injury he sustained during a friendly match against Beziers on August 18th, 2012.

“I am now well recovering and hoping to get a hundred percent recovery before the national trials,” he said.

Lutumailagi also confirmed that he will be able to play again later this march.

This year’s Rugby World Cup will be held on  28th to 30th of June in Moscow, Russia.
