Monday, 19 January, SUVA: Representatives of the Korean Institute for Military Affairs paid a courtesy call today on the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.
The President of the Institute, retired Major General Myung-Koo Lee, and Planning Director, Mr Yang Wansik, are in the country to discuss areas of potential bilateral cooperation and explore business opportunities.
In their meeting with Minister Kubuabola, Major General Lee thanked the Fijian Government for the good working relations and cooperation that exists between Fiji and the Republic of Korea.
These strong ties have enabled regular high-level contact between the two countries. It is also a positive reflection on the steadfast work being undertaken by Fiji’s diplomatic representatives in Seoul.
Major General Lee confirmed that they have also had fruitful discussions with other local stakeholders, including the top brass of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. Minister Kubuabola initiated and facilitated a meeting for the two representatives with the Minister of Defence.
During their meetings in Suva, the two representatives of the Institute were accompanied by local Korean businessman, Mr YG Chang.
